Funnel Cake Recipe

A classic treat of carnivals, fairs, (and high school football games!) Funnel cakes are crunchy on the outside, and perfectly fluffy on the inside! Made with just 7 easy ingredients, then cover with your favorite toppings to sweeten it up.


  1. Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed pan or Dutch oven.
  2. Whisk the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt together in a large bowl. Set it aside.
  3. Beat together the wet ingredients in a separate bowl. 
  4. Then pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and combine thoroughly.
  5. Pour the batter into a squeezable bottle or put a cup of batter into the funnel.
  6. Spiral the funnel cake batter into the oil, making it the size of a small-sized plate or a large dinner plate depending on how big you’d like them to be.
  7. Fry the funnel cakes in the hot oil until they turn golden brown. 
  8. Flip them with tongs to allow the other side to cook. 
  9. Place the fried funnel cakes onto plates that are lined with paper towels and finish cooking off the rest of the batter.
  10. Serve topped with powdered sugar and enjoy!
